Assemblywoman Helene E. Weinstein Honors Residents for Older Americans Month

Older Americans Month is in full swing at The Waterford on the Bay

Brooklyn, NY, May 18, 2017:  Each May, we celebrate Older Americans Month (OAM). This year’s theme, designed by The Administration of Community Living (ACL) is “Age Out Loud”. The Waterford on the Bay Assisted Living welcomed Assemblywoman Helene E. Weinstein to its’ community for a special dedication ceremony in honor of Older Americans Month.

Assemblywoman Helene E. Weinstein came to honor those residents who were 100 years of age or older. This year Assemblywoman Weinstein presented four residents living at Waterford on the Bay received a Certificate of Merit as an Older American Month Honoree. Those honored included their oldest resident, age 103. Also honored were three other residents aged, 102, 101, 100 years young.

One resident said “I am very pleased with this event, to be remembered and honored. The decorations were so nice and cheerful.”

When a staff person was asked about the event Anton, Assistant Administrator stated “Recognizing our older Americans and honoring them by celebrating their stories and their contributions to our city and our country is such an important thing that we can do. Each one of these individuals have seen and experienced things we cannot begin to imagine. They each have their individuality and live their lives with passion. They are a vital part of our country and our community. Providing support and assistance to them is our main goal at The Waterford on the Bay. We look forward to this celebration next year.”

Shirler Holker, Director of Activities stated “In celebration of OAM, it gives me great pleasure to honor and appreciate our seniors this day”.

The Waterford on the Bay is an assisted living community with a dedicated service to those suffering with dementia or other memory care need.
